OK, so I've been a little lazy. Maybe I just needed a break from this blog thing. I've taken the last few weeks to soak up my family--that's it. Nothing profound. I'm simply starting to feel like we are a living la vida familia and enjoying every minute of it. Donovan and I are not at each others' throats as much now that we are better rested and we are not constantly living in a state of hyper-intention. We even went out for dinner a few weeks ago (ok, so we left at 5 and were home by 7 to put her to sleep, but it was a DATE).
Noemi seems increasingly settled since earlier this fall. We've been going to play at friends' houses, staying up later for special events just because we can roll with it now and running errands with a new-found ease. eeeeeease. ahhhhhhhhh.
Nap/Night-time routine? What used to be dreaded times of the day are now my favorite. Yup, you heard me right. She snuggles up, falls asleep and (generally) stays asleep. Sweet flippin' harmony. I still have to be the person to put her to sleep as she won't let Donovan in on that routine; but we figure that we worked our tails off to get to this place so we'll let her tell us when she's ready to move beyond me.
And so, with that good news I present photos of Noemi's 2nd birthday bash. When asked who she wanted to come to her party she promptly responded, "the monsters--all of them". We whipped up some monster activities for the cousins; and my parents spent likely far too much time slaving over the most fantastic monster cupcakes ever to growl. Come on, my dad even made a monster with dreads made from gummy worms. Now that's monster cupcake awesomeness.

Happy birthday, monster girl. We love you more than you'll ever know.
