Jersey Girl

Grandpa and Grandma with the grandchildren...Salena, Ruben, Sosi and Juan
The "silly" family portrait. We'll save the nice one for a frame.

Sosi took her first trip to the shore this weekend. Our Witmer family spent the weekend in Ocean City, New Jersey. We considered canceling when we learned of a significant snow storm heading to South Jersey, but we decided it could prove to be a pretty magnificent time to be at the beach. We managed to arrive before the snow picked up and stayed until the strong winds and surf died down and the sun came out. Both the storm and aftermath were simply beautiful. We trekked through the snowy dunes with Sosi in her little red sled to the sand on the other side and took her for a ride on the water's edge. I think I enjoyed it as much as her. I'll take the shore anytime I can get it and I'll work me darndest to make a beach lover out of her.

Doesn't it look like a little red rocket ship on the sand?

giddy up, baby!

Sosi gobbled up the attention of her doting grandparents, aunts, uncles and goofy cousins all weekend. She had a ball and rolled with the excitement. As usual, she crashed once it was over. She was an utter crank pot all day on Monday and could not get herself to sleep. She fought and fought and fought until she finally passed out around 3:30 pm and slept straight through the night. Donovan and I were a bit worried, not sure whether we should wake her, but we rolled the dice and decided to let her sleep. She woke up almost 15 hours later, happy as all get-out. Ahhh--the sweet benefits of a good recovery sleep. It was such a fun weekend that she needed a some hardy zzzz's.
